I am a 3rd year student studying at the University of
British Columbia (UBC).
I am currently enrolled in the
Commerce program. If you want to know more about me,

My favorite sport, like most Canadians, is the game of
hockey. For those of you who are new to the sport, it is a fast-paced
game with blinding speed, blistering slapshots, and of course,
bone-crunching body checks. The equipment/protection worn by players
is somewhat reminiscent of medieval knights' armors. They are, of
course, made of plastic and foam padding so to minimize the injuries.
Now that I've scared you, let me explain the good things about the game.
First of all, there's an adrenaline rush as skating at speeds up to 40
kilo's per hour does remind one of flying. Remeber, don't run into the
goalie, or else you'd really be flying...and there are no landing gears
in this game. Also,it's really good physical exercise, especially if you
consider all the fights in the game ranging from boxing
type matchs to all-out brawls. Even if you bleed a little, there's always
plenty of ice in the rink for everyone(^_^).
Since you now understand how fun hockey can be, I just want to say I don't really play the
game. I just like it. The best hockey is of course in the NHL.
My favorite player is the goalie for the Buffalo Sabres. Known simply as "The Dominator",
Dominik Hasek has truly dominated the game by winning back to back Hart
Trophy as the NHL's MVP, 5 Vezinas and of course, carrying their team to
the Stanley Cup finals against Dallas Stars in the 1998-1999 season.
What? Hasek is retiring after next season?! Nooooooooo!!!! Don't Go.
Who will replace him as the best goalie in the league?
Garth Snow??? Goalies playing for the New York Rangers???
